Who we are

Founded in 1990, Siatex is an Italian company specialising in the sourcing and sale of used textile machinery. Headquartered in Italy and with a long-standing operational presence in Ethiopia, we serve customers across international markets, with exports accounting for approximately 85% of our annual turnover.

Siatex buys and sells second-hand textile machinery for different stages of the production process. We assist customers in finding suitable equipment and support them throughout the purchasing process, from the initial enquiry and technical evaluation to dismantling, logistics, installation and after-sales assistance, when required. Alongside machinery trading, Siatex also supplies selected accessories and spare parts for the weaving department.

Machinery sourcing
Through our international network, we identify available machinery according to each customer’s technical requirements, production needs and budget. Even if the machine you are looking for is not currently listed on our website, our team can search the international market on your behalf.

Inspection and reconditioning
Before delivery, used machinery can be inspected, tested, cleaned, adjusted and reconditioned according to its condition and the customer’s requirements. When requested, we provide photos, videos, technical information and test-running documentation before shipment.

Dismantling, packing and loading
We coordinate the dismantling and professional packing of machinery for international transport. Our experienced teams load and secure machinery inside containers or trucks, optimising space and helping to prevent damage in transit.

our history

Three generations of textile machinery

since 1953 the Piani family has worked in the textile machinery business

1953
Roots in Prato
Mr. Giuliano Piani starts working in the textile machinery business in Prato, selling a huge quantity of shuttle looms. At that time Prato had about 18,000 looms and mainly three manufacturers.
1990
Siatex is born
The company is born from a partnership between Sulzer Italy and the Piani family in Prato. Mr. Franco Piani becomes CEO and Managing Director, first selling new Sulzer machinery and achieving success worldwide with used textile machinery.
1999
The Piani family takes over
The Piani family becomes the sole shareholder, continuing the trade of both new and second-hand textile machines such as Somet, Sulzer, Vamatex, Picanol, Nuovo Pignone, Smit and Dornier, plus all kinds of finishing, weaving preparation, spinning and dyeing machinery.
2015
The third generation
With the entrance of Mr. Stefano Piani as Business Development, Sales and Marketing Manager, the company expands to other fields: garment, furniture and laboratory equipment, alongside the textile cornerstone, realising projects as general contractor.
Today
Operating in more than 65 countries
Trading operations across Europe, Asia, Africa and South America, with headquarters in Italy and a representative sales office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia: consolidated export experience at the service of our customers.
